India, which has a million diamond workers and currently rules the market, is fast seeing its domination of the market erode. Many foreign entrepreneurs are also entering the market. The Chinese polishers currently work on smaller gems but are working their way up to larger and more expensive stones. The expectation is that the Chinese will come to dominate all but the highest end of the market.
